FAQs

When is the 2024 scholarship application deadline?
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2024

Application forms are available HERE.

**Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted.**

How do I request my transcript?

High school transcripts can be requested online at https://www.baraboo.k12.wi.us under the “I Want To” tab.

How can I be considered for scholarships with a “financial need” requirement?

Students applying for scholarships that are awarded based upon financial need must complete the standard FAFSA Form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and provide an official copy of the SAR (Student Aid Report) as part of the BCSC application. The FAFSA is available for download at:  www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Please review the BCSC Scholarship Book carefully to learn which scholarships consider financial need as an award factor.

For more detailed information, please see “Applying for Need-Based Scholarships” on the Application Forms page HERE.

Do not wait until the last minute to complete your FAFSA! The BCSC application is time-sensitive, and the financial information may take longer to complete than anticipated.

Are references really important?

YES!  Please follow the requirements carefully as provided on the Application Forms page here.  All applicants must submit two references. This is very important —  a missing reference will mean denial of scholarship consideration!

How do I know what scholarships are available from BCSC?

The BCSC Scholarship Book contains descriptions of all scholarships currently administered by the Baraboo Community Scholarship Corporation.

Detailed information is on the BCSC Scholarship Book HERE. Copies of our source book can also be found in the Baraboo High School Student Services Office.

How do I decide which scholarships to apply for?

You do not have to apply for individual BCSC scholarships. By completing a single BCSC application, you will be considered for all BCSC scholarships in which you meet the criteria for. To increase your chance of receiving a scholarship, make sure you completed all portions of the application and highlight the attributes you think are applicable.

Do I need to have a major in mind to apply for scholarships?

You do not need to have a specific major in mind, but declaring areas of interest will help our Selection Committee match you to potential scholarships.  You will increase your chances of getting a scholarship if you give BCSC an idea of what interests you.

When will I find out if I received a BCSC scholarship?

Scholarships awarded by BCSC are announced at the Baraboo High School Honors Night.

How do I receive my scholarship funds?

To claim your funds, send proof of registration along with your completed Recipient Request Form for Payment of Scholarship to BCSC, P.O. Box 380, Baraboo, WI  53913.  This form will be given to you on Honors Night.

Scholarship payments begin after July 1 each year.  If your scholarship is paid in two installments, a second request including proof of registration should be mailed to BCSC after your second semester enrollment information is available.

I want to establish a scholarship.  How do I do this?

The BCSC welcomes new scholarships.  We can help you establish, administer, and maintain your scholarship.  To learn more, click on  Establish a Scholarship.
